april 22

the communication department held a luncheon for all of the graduating seniors. not everyone came. in fact, there were only about 10 seniors there, but it was nice to hang out with our professors and just talk about the past four years. we all also got a card signed by our advisors and a $25 gift card to itunes, which i was really surprised by. it's crazy to think that graduation is only two weeks away! had my last ever sga meeting and was officially sworn out of office. after that went to meet about acropolis again which was...interesting. we'll see how that goes...

april 21

wednesday was honors day so we didn't have class. at the student life honors phi mu won sorority of the year which was really exciting! i'm really proud of all my sister's and just seeing how involved we all are and how diverse our chapter is. it makes me happy. later that night was cabaret where they did selections from the '25th annual putnam county spelling bee.' everyone did just a good job! it was so funny.

april 20

yoga class was cancelled so i didn't have any classes all day. i spent some time with abby. we went off campus to a coffee shop and just sat and talked which was really good because i needed it. she helped me feel a little better about things going on in my life, which is always good. tuesday night was our sisterhood retreat and we were supposed to go to bruce and becky's for a bonfire and s'mores, but it was raining so we did an ice cream party in the lounge instead. it was a lot of fun to hang out with everyone. we all put our hand prints on a canvas to hang in the lounge. after that i went to cru and had a phone date with jess!!!! it was so good talking to her. i miss her and the other roomies a whole lot.

april 19

catie hammond's birthday!!!! she turned the big 21! before that though i still felt sick so i went to the doctor and got real medicine to make me better. because i was feeling sick i didn't go to small group or out to celebrate catie's birthday, but she came over when she got back to get her birthday presents from me and balls. she got an owl locket and dinosaur cookie cutters. she really turned five and not twenty-one...haha.

april 18

so i'd been sick since tuesday and unable to really eat anything without wanting to die. after bruce's ordination i came back and just relaxed hoping to feel better. i decided to go to walmart and get some medicine, soup, and gatorade. the basic essentials when you're sick.

april 17

spent the day with eliza! we went to the friendly center and did some shopping. there were really good sales and i own zero dress clothes for my job in june, so i bought some things for work. sarah ball came back from app state and we went to burlington to go to the hobby lobby there to get vases for the carnation center pieces. we found a really nice shopping center that had a sephora! i had a gift card so i bought some nail polish. we grabbed dinner then headed back to high point. it was a fun day.

april 16

friday eliza came! leah, ashley, eliza, and i went out to eat for dinner at outback. then i had to usher for 'the seagull' so eliza and i went to the theater. the show was interesting... it was really long and at some points really slow, but it was fun to spend time with eliza.

april 15

nothing too exciting on thursday. had sga. andrew swore out as president and eric swore in. i finished reading 'the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe' and started reading 'east of eden.'

april 14

presented my senior sem! i think it went really well. i'm just relieved that it's all over. wednesday night we had a sisterhood movie night and we watched 'the proposal.' when we were there we got our jdrf shirts for the walk on the 24.

april 13

day before i present my senior sem! spent most of the day working on it and practicing. it was a nice day so me, balls, and sarah mcgee did homework on the balcony of the uc study lounge. at 7 phi mu hosted a comedy show to raise money for cmn. after that i practiced my presentation...

april 12

class all day. it's my last full week of classes as an undergrad student! crazy! after classes i took a nap, then came back up to the balcony at the uc study lounge with catie hammond. worked a litttle more on my senior sem presentation then took a break for dinner and to go to small group. i haven't been to small group for the past few weeks because of phonathon, so it was nice to be able to go again. after small group i came back up to the uc study lounge balcony with matti and balls. it's nice to have a place to do homework and enjoy the weather. i think this is my new favorite place to study and do homework. too bad that i just discovered it now that i'm almost done. i have most of my presentation done, i just have to add like two more slides and practice! i'm so ready to be done with this! this picture is the view of campus from the balcony. as much as i can complain about high point, i can't deny that the campus is beautiful...

april 11

went to church then came back and had lunch with balls. after lunch i came to the balcony in the uc study lounge to work on some homework and enjoy the weather at the same time. after awhile catie hammond came and joined me. later that night we had our formal chapter meeting. my last one ever! it was a looooong meeting and it was so hot in the room that it made me kind of glad that it was my last one. i got to keep my quaterfoil name tag since i'm graduating!

april 10

worked open house in the morning from 7-3:15. i was bummed that i had to work because a group of people from church were going to the zoo and i would have much rather have done that, but it was a nice day, so i was kind of okay with working. after work i took a nap then went to the murder mystery dinner at the steak house with kelly, taryn, kb, and amelia. we didn't guess the right person, but it was still kinda fun. then sarah ball and i went on an adventure around town because i still needed one more shot of an 'interesting sky' for photography. i wanted to get a cool shot of the sunset from the top of one of the buildings on campus, but the way that they're all built the back is too the sunset. so we got in my car and drove around following the sunset till we found something that was kind of cool. it's not exactly what i had in mind, but it'll have to do since my portfolio is due on wednesday. came back to campus and said hi to people that were at relay for life then watched the movie for french cinema, 'the brotherhood of the wolf.' i would not reccommend it. it was 2.5 hours long and was weird. the french have a weird sense of entertainment when it comes to films...

april 9

friday i didn't have any classes and it was a beautiful day so after lunch i went out to the piedmont nature trail with alyssa. i had to take pictures of a 'wicked' tree for digital photography so i thought i'd take advantage of the beautiful day. i like this one a lot because it reminds me of spider legs. after that i watched some of my sisters play beach volleyball for intramurals. later that night i went to the c.a.t. bingo night with a bunch of people. i really watned to win something since it was my last bingo, but that was a fail. went to the phi mu house for bryelle's surprise birthday party then just crashed since i had to work in the morning.

april 8

thursday only had yoga class. later that night i had ec for sga and then went to a documentary screening for 1000 journals.  it's this really cool journal project that an artist from san fransisco named 'someguy' started.  he bought 1000 blank journals and sent them out into the world to people. then people journaled and did all kinds of artistic stuff in them and sent them on to others. it's kind of like a mash up of post secret and flat stanley. anyways we watched the documentary that was made about it.  then afterwards they said how so many people were interested in it and wanted a journal that they started teh 1001 journal project.  anyone can start a journal, register it, and send it out into the world.  that's what my campus is doing.  the professors who have been chairing the series of documentaries and presentations selected 20 students to start a journal, and i was one of them! i'm really excited! there are a total of five journals that will be sent out from hpu. i hope that someday maybe 5 years from now i'll get a call from the school telling me that my journal that i started made it back to it's home. :)

april 7

wednesday was a full day of classes and presentations in senior sem started. i go in a week! ah! i had to work phonathon and the team did pretty well. so well in fact that chad (my boss) decided that we could be done this week and not have to extend to next week. after work i went to chili's with balls to support the juvenile diabetes walk that we're participating in.  there were a bunch of sisters there and it was fun to just hang out and relax, especially since graduation is so soon! after that leah talked me into going to triangle for a little. went with her, rob, dave rad, and balls, but i didn't end up staying very long. there were a lot of people and i just wasn't feeling it...

april 6

drove back to school on tuesday. i wanted to leave my house by 6:30 am, but didn't get out the door till 6:45 (still not too bad for me, i tend to run late). so funny story. since i had gotten my car i didn't need to put gas in it until i had to leave for school. when my dad had first given me the keys there were all these extra little keys that looked like they went to a safe or something of that nature, so i gave them back to him to give to the guy who we bought the car from. well after i stopped to get my coffee i got onto 81 to head back to school. i stopped about 20 minutes down in lebanon to get gas. i pull up to the gas station and try to take my gas cap off only to realize that it has a lock. those extra little keys that i had given my dad were to unlock the gas cap. i had to call my dad and try to wake him up (it was his day off, thank God) to come to the gas station and bring me the keys. thankfully i was only about 25 mintues from home and not any further. made the drive okay. i stopped in virginia for an hour to see eliza and made it back on campus around 4:30.  that night i went to cru where we did outreach by cleaning three frat houses. it was gross, but it was good. after that i scrubbed until i felt clean again and watched 'the visitor's' for french cinema while eating some ben & jerry's. i figured i deserved a little treat after a crazy day and now i can eat ice cream!

april 5

RITA'S ITALIAN ICE!!!!!!!! one downfall about north carolina is that there are not enough rita's establishments. spent the day hanging out with my mom, she took off work since i was home. we watched 'the pacific' on ondemand. it's a pretty good show! i made my dad go get rita's with me since lent was over and i could have ice cream and since i miss it a lot when i'm at school. it was good!

april 4

Easter Sunday!!!! i don't have a church at home, so i didn't get to go worship, but i got to spend some time with my mom because my brother and dad worked in the morning. we made homemade Belgium waffles with her new waffle iron. then i dyed eggs. yes i'm 22. yes i still dyed eggs. and yes it was fun. :) after my dad and brother got home we ate Easter lunch/dinner and watched 'the hurt locker.' it was a nice relaxing holiday with my family. i'm glad i went home for it...

april 3

saturday = first day at home! it was nice to be home. went grocery shopping with my mom and zak. helped her do some errands and picked up my car. yes i finally have a car! it's a 99 dodge neon, nothing too fancy or exciting, but it's a car. went to target and my mom bought me air fresheners for my car. went over to megan's later to hang out with her, ang, and amanda. i haven't seen all of them since the summer? it was good to catch up.

april 2

i'm home for Easter! i left today with amy around 1:30 and got home around 8:45. it feels nice to be home, even if it is only for a few days. it's nice to be able to relax, although i don't know how much relaxing i'll actually do since i have my senior sem presentation in about a week and a half. i've also started researching different grad schools. i think i want to go for photojournalism/journalism...something in that field. i would prefer photojournalism, but if i can find a journalism program that will allow me to concentrate in photography then that'll work too. the process of growing up and having to make decisions is never ending...

april 1

april fool's day! didn't have any classes because yoga was cancelled. went to yoga in the morning. it was a beautiful day so we ate lunch outside. caitlin, cody, kelly, and me got bored so we came back to my apartment to make some crazy concoction. went to the steak house at 5 with mcgee, emily, sydney, catie, and erica. went to sga, then went to meet about starting acropolis (the greek bible study) back up. the meeting went really well. i'm excited!

march 31

went to class. worked phonathon. same old same old. i've slowly been reading through the old testament. i'm really enjoying it.

march 30

met with abby. went to yoga. it was a really, really nice day so spent some time just sitting outside and enjoying the weather.  i went to zumba with amy and then went to cru. the leadership team had just gotten back from their weekend retreat. they wanted us to focus on prayer more so we spent the meeting breaking up into groups and praying for different things. one of the songs that we sang was 'how deep the father's love' which made me think of when we sang it on project at church and the woman stopped us because we weren't singing it the way she had practiced. haha.

march 29

nothing too exciting happened on monday. went to classes then worked phonathon from 5:30-9. came back and did some much needed laundry...
